Visitors to Vietnam’s southern tourism island can start adding Bangkok to their itinerary soon.
As Dan Tri reports, on October 3, Bangkok Airways announced that they’re starting a direct service from the Thai capital to Phu Quoc from October 29.
Bangkok Airways President Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth shared at the launch that he’s had his eyes on the island as a future destination ever since his carrier started flying straight to Da Nang in 2016.
Bangkok-Phu Quoc flights will make use of ATR 72-600 aircraft, with the frequency of four times per week on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
According to the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, the island has received a steady flow of tourists in recent years. For the first nine months of 2017, local businesses have welcomed 2.26 million visitors, an 8.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
Vietnam currently also offers international tourists visa exemption for 30 days on Phu Quoc.[Photo via Flickr user Rattaphol Kerdkaen]
