A plane landed in Hong Kong bearing the egregious typo “Cathay Paciic.” The Boeing 777-367’s missing “F” was nowhere to be seen, much to the delight of netizens and the good humor of the Hong-Kong based airline.
It is unknown who is responsible for the fuselage spelling snafu, which will cost thousands to fix. When asked, an engineer for the airline’s partner, Haeco, seemed skeptical of the honest blunder, explaining to the South China Morning Post, “The spacing is too on-point for a mishap. We have stencils. Should be a blank gap in between letters if it was a real mistake I think.”
The airline took it in good stride, posting it on twitter and promising to “send it back to the shop.”
And as one can expect whenever a corporation blunders, Twitter users around the world were quick to poke fun online:[Top photo by Travel Wire Asia]
