“Drift” is a solo performance utilizing performative collage that impersonates Nguyen’s enduring quest to find belonging – a place that seems to only exist in the liminal space between reminiscing and moving forward.
Dat Nguyen is a choreographer, photographer, filmmaker, and visual artist. He was based in Salt Lake City, Utah until recently returning to his native Vietnam. He received his BFA degree in Dance at Sam Houston State University and is finishing an MFA degree in Modern Dance with a Screendance Certificate at the University of Utah.
His works have been presented at venues and festivals across the United States, such as Versatility Dance Festival (Colorado), the Tank Theatre, the Jack Crystal Theatre (New York), Smush Gallery (New Jersey) Highways Performance Space and Gallery (California), Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, Rocky Mountain Choreography Festival, 12 Minute Max, Mudson, Marriott Center for Dance, Salt Dance Fest, The Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival (Utah), Bailando International Dance Festival, Jim & Nancy Gaertner Performing Arts Center (Texas), and Dibden Center for The Arts (Vermont).
